A narrative inquiry of the mourning culture and post-traumatic growth process of female bereaved who lost their parents by suicide in adolescence

Abstract
This study analyzed the stories of nine adult women using the narrative inquiry method to reveal the mourning culture experience and post-traumatic growth process of female bereaved who lost their parents by suicide in adolescence. The main results are as follows. First, the experience of mourning culture of female suicide bereaved was analyzed under the theme of "Learning that children who lose their parents by suicide should cry quietly." In other words, it was found that they did not grieve enough or did not receive comfort and support due to the family and social atmosphere that was difficult to express sadness and pain. Second, the Post-Traumatic Growth process of female suicide bereaved was analyzed under the theme of "Taking care of people and my life like a good mother." In other words, through meetings with various people who fill the vacancy of their parents and suicide bereaved who met at self-help group, it was found that they understood and reflected on their experiences, gave positive meaning to themselves, their families, and their future lives. Based on these research results, this study discussed the direction of follow-up studies to deeply understand and support a child who has lost his parents to suicide.
